A Roundpen Session is a blend of
Bio-resonant frequency medicine using Frequency Specific Microcurrent and Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy,
Therapeutic breathwork and movement,
Heart Rate Variability Training,
Skilled manual therapy,
and the healing energy field of your horse's heart.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A ROUNDPEN SESSION?
Roundpen Sessions are catered to your individual needs, so no two sessions are the same, and we always address what needs attention in the present moment.
A session typically starts with a skilled Physical Therapy Evaluation performed by Dr. Jessica Tierney, PT, DPT, E-RYT (Dr. Jessie).
Your horse is in the roundpen, free to roam and participate as she wishes.
Sessions always include Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) and Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM), customized to your therapeutic needs based off of the evaluation and your individual therapeutic goals.
The horse often offers us insights based off of her responses throughout the session.
You receive body work, movement therapy, and breathwork instruction throughout the session, facilitated by Dr. Jessie.
WHY THE HORSE? WHY NOT JUST A STANDARD PHYSCIAL THERAPY SESSION?
While you are always welcome to attend a clinical Physical Therapy session with Dr. Jessie at her office in Niwot (The Healing Collective Functional & Integrative Medicine), a Roundpen Session adds an entirely new dimension to the healing experience ... and what could be better than involving your horse?
THE EQUINE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD and HEART RATE VARIABILITY
The electromagnetic field of the horse's heart extends up to 5 times farther than the field of the human heart (8-10 feet). Because of this, horses have a high level of sensitivity to your body's physiology (your heart beat, breath rhythm, etc) as well as your emotional status, and they can be affected by your inner state from many feet away. This is why we like to allow the horse to be free-roaming: allowed to choose to engage as closely or distantly as needed to remain comfortable in the energies emitted by the PEMF device as well as your own heart.
Doing intentional healing work in the presence of your horse does a few things:
Horses are responsive to their owners' emotions. Engaging in this way means that as you receive the benefits from the resonant frequency work, your horse responds too.
Horses have an impact on human heart rate variability, meaning being in the presence of a horse is innately calming and improves your parasympathetic / sympathetic nervous system balance.
The behaviors of the horse give us information about your status and response to the treatment session.
This opens up a whole new way of relating to your horse. So many of us spend much of our time around horses doing, grooming, riding, leading, lunging, going ... and so little of our time just being. This kind of experience actually invites you to receive from your horse, and empowers your horse to step into a totally different role. This way of relating to your horse will impact your life far beyond the roundpen.
WHAT CAN A ROUNDPEN SESSION TREAT?
Sessions are as diverse as the equestrians being treated and the horses that join them. Each horse chooses to engage in her own way, and each person participating brings her own unique patterning to the treatment table. If you have a specific therapeutic goal, we will certainly address it. Some of the more common conditions we work with in Roundpen Sessions include:
Any brain or head trauma (if you've been around horses long enough, chances are you've fallen off a time or two, and even if these falls didn't cause any acute issue, it is a wise idea to get screened by an experienced professional and to balance any issues before they become a problem).
Low back pain
Neck pain
Hip pain
Joint stiffness
Scoliosis
Shoulder pain
Asymmetry
Core imbalances
Hypermobility (ligament laxity)
Fascial restrictions
Anxiety and nervous system dysregulation
Vagus Nerve toning
Dural / Neural adhesions
